Emergency Broadband Benefit (EBB) Program
Triangle Communications has been approved as a participating service provider in the Federal Emergency Broadband Benefit (EBB) Program. The EBB Program will provide a discount of up to $50 per month for internet services to eligible households. Households on qualifying Tribal lands can receive an enhanced discount of up to $75 per month. The EBB Program will open for application and enrollment on May 12, 2021.
The EBB Program is temporary. It will expire when the funds appropriated by Congress are used, or six months after the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) declares the end of the COVID-19 health emergency. When the EBB program ends, internet service will continue at standard rates and terms. You will need to contact Triangle if you wish to make changes to your services. You must use your services during a given monthly billing period to remain eligible for the EBB. We are required to suspend EBB benefits for services that were not used during the previous 30 days.
The EBB benefit is limited to one monthly service discount per household. Connection charges and deposits will be waived for new connections for all eligible EBB households.
Participating households may obtain broadband service supported by the EBB program from any participating provider of their choice and may transfer their EBB program benefit to another provider at any time.
How Do I Apply?
Households that are already enrolled in the Lifeline telecommunications discount program are automatically eligible for the EBB, but you still need to contact your internet provider to opt in to the new EBB benefit.
Households not currently enrolled in the Lifeline program should go to https://getemergencybroadband.org/ to review specific eligibility information and submit an application. You must use the Lifeline National Verifier to apply for EBB benefits. We cannot verify your eligibility or enroll you in the program. AFTER you qualify through the National Verifier, then you must notify your participating internet service provider to opt in to the EBB benefit. If we do not hear from you with an affirmative opt in, we cannot apply discounts to your internet bill.
Eligible households should contact Triangle Communications to request that your benefits be applied to your Triangle bill. The benefit is available to eligible new, prior and existing customers of participating providers.
Can I Get Both the Lifeline & EBB Discounts?
Customers eligible for both programs can receive both benefits, but the total discount cannot exceed your internet charges. The EBB benefit amount may be reduced to meet this requirement. The EBB Benefit will be UP TO $50 (or $75 on qualifying Tribal Lands) per month, but cannot be more than your actual internet bill (plus your Lifeline internet credit if applicable).
What Happens When Funds Run Out?
When the EBB funding runs out, participating households will receive notice (via hard copy letter & other means) of the end date. The FCC hopes to provide at least 45 days’ notice. It is possible that the final months’ benefit will be phased down, but it will still be at least 50% of the full EBB benefit amount.
When Do I Get My Benefit?
The EBB credit will appear on your first bill after being approved and contacting us.
Where Can I Find More Information?
Please reach out to the office to determine if your current plan is eligible to receive the EBB credit. EBB credit is not available on all offerings.
